Humanity is clinging to the distinguishment, but is it true? Will arbiter of taste be the last and most important human job? If we can train models on various other labels, why not good v bad?
Rick Rubin is a celebrated producer despite self-admitting he is not a skilled musician. But his ability to hear something and say “yes, more of that, lean in there” has led to some of the greatest albums of our generation. He doesn’t claim to know C++ from a C# but he can say “that take felt good” or “do it again, put more energy here, in this part.”
What if I have bad taste, though? I like to eat fancy food, when we can afford it… but I also wear XOOMSHA shirts from Amazon. Does the world want my taste determinations?
Is taste certifiable, or is it just consensus? Is consensus weighted toward follower numbers? Do I risk losing or gaining followers with every taste decision? Nah, it should come easy.
I should run an experiment. Train a bot on what quality means to me, for a range of products and content. Have it be the taste arbiter for agent output around our businesses. Maybe it can hire out as a tastemaster. Is tastemasters.com available? Nope. But tastemasters.org still is. Hmmm.
